Update: Fundraising Progress

Hey, everyone! I wanted to give you an update on my fundraising progress. So far, in only about a week and a half, $1355.00 has been donated!! Praise the Lord!!! Only $4145 to go! I know that's a big number, but I also know that God can do big things and He will provide!

Thank you so very much to everyone who has donated so far! My gratitude is beyond words for all of the love and support I am receiving from you all! God has seriously given me the greatest friends and family in the world and I love you all so much!

I also have a quick update about my trip. Due to some unchangeable circumstances (AKA Federal Court Jury Duty) I am pushing my trip back to August 31st. While this is a bit later than I had wanted to leave, it allows me a little more time to raise the funds I need to get to Guatemala, so it all works out for the best. Well...except for the jury duty part. So, this means that I now need to raise a little over $1000 a week for the next 4 weeks.

A Dream Come True

It has finally happened. After over 4 years of travelling to Guatemala with Orphan's Heart and having spent a total of 20 weeks there, God has provided a path for me to work in Guatemala as a long term missionary!!! I am excited beyond words and so extremely thankful for this opportunity! The timing could not be more perfect and I just know in my heart that this is God's will for me! I feel like my dreams are finally coming to reality :)

Okay, so here's the scoop. I have been asked to be an assistant English teacher to elementary students at a school outside of Antigua!! This is through an organization called Niños de Guatemala, an organization I am somewhat familiar with because a friend of mine is one of their English teachers in Antigua as well. I am aiming to leave August 17th and stay through December. I would be working with one of the English teachers with pre-k through 3rd grade students and helping to further develop the school's English program. I can't wait to get started!

As this is a volunteer position, I am responsible for all of my own living expenses. For the 5 months that I would be there, the total cost (including airfare back and forth) is approximately $5500 and I have only 4 weeks to raise it-which amounts to $1250 a week. I know it seems like a mountain to try to raise that much money in such a short time, but moving mountains is kinda God's thing - if I just have faith and trust in God, I know He can make it happen!

It's going to take a lot of faith and prayer to raise this amount of money in this short time, so I would like to ask you all to pray with me. Please pray that God will provide the way for me to get to Guatemala. Pray that He will use me to be His hands and feet to the kids, as well as to the staff I'll be working with. Pray that everything will fall into place exactly according to His plan and that He will guide me to where He wants me to be every step of the way.

Today's the Day!!!

It's finally here!!! I'm finally returning to my most favorite place in the world...Guatemala!!!!

I finished packing last night...got everything in one suitcase (only 49lbs!), one carry on bag, and one "personal item" (but that's really just a smaller carry on bag haha).

Now, at 6:00 in the morning, my mom is driving me to the Tampa airport where I'll meet up with one of my fellow interns. Then we'll head to Miami to meet up with Howie and our other fellow intern. I'm so excited to meet the girls I'll be working with for the next 5 weeks!

I've gotta go now before I get carsick from staring at my phone...that wouldn't be a great way to start my trip (although it is how I ended it last time). Can't wait to be back with my friends and all my babies! I'll keep you updated here!

16 days!!!!!!! Donations and Prayer Partners

In only 16 days I will be headed back to Guatemala!!! I can't wait to get back to the center and see all my kids and friends there!

I am in need of two things: donations (every little bit helps!) and prayer partners!

Whether you are able to donate or not,  I ask that you would consider being a prayer partner. It's simple: you just have to pray for me each day until I return from my internship. I am looking for at least 5 people who are will to commit to pray daily that I will remain healthy, that I will be open to what God is showing me (and that I'll be able to see it), that I'll be able to show God's love to everyone I come in contact with and be the hands and feet of Jesus, that I have safe travels throughout my internship, for any specific requests I post here on my blog, and anything else you'd like to pray on my behalf.

4 more weeks!!

7 more weeks!!!

I cannot believe that in only 7 weeks I will be returning to the place my heart has been longing for ever since I left in November!! I am so thankful that God has given me this opportunity to once again return to the beautiful country of Guatemala. I can't wait to what He's been doing there in my absence! And, of course, I am so excited to see all of the precious children at the center (including a few of my "not favorites") and my friends down there!

I am about a quarter of the way to having all of the funds raised for my trip...$1600 to go!
